The first time Gunner gets to Club La Santa is back in 1983: "when there were only two tennis courts" he says. The reason for his first visit to Lanzarote was to train with the athletic team he belonged to. He kept coming back to Club La Santa several times for the same purpose until he began to come on holidays with his wife Winnie, who has been 53 times at the resort along the years.
They love coming to Lanzarote because they love both the landscapes of the island and the Club La Santa facilities. They say that they have never had any problem with anybody here because people from Lanzarote are very friendly.

Another major reason why they have not stopped coming is for the climate: "the weather conditions in Lanzarote let you practice any kind of outdoor activity during the whole year, and is not as cold as in Denmark".
Gunner and Winnie used to come to Lanzarote with their children until, after 20 times at Club La Santa, the children said they had had enough, and they stopped coming. Over the years, after having children themselves (Gunner’s grandchildren), they did realize what they enjoyed in Lanzarote when they were children, and now they are back again to spend the holidays with their own children. "Sometimes the whole family comes together: grandparents, parents, children and grandchildren"

Gunner and Winnie are surprised to compare the Lanzarote of 27 years ago and the present, 2010 Lanzarote, "everything has changed, the airport, roads, the towns ..." The place they probably most love above all others on the island is the Timanfaya National Park. "The first time I came, I did not like all that black landscape, but after few years this volcanic and mysterious area is what I do like".
Among other memories they have is that they have always enjoyed the music from a group of three “Conejeros” (people who live in Lanzarote) who used to play at the Pool Bar while they were having dinner. So, what was their surprise when some time later met the same group of three Lanzarote artists performing in a bar in Denmark: "They were very funny," said Winnie.
Asking about what he thinks about Club La Santa, Gunner’s answer is very clear: "Relax, enjoy, sports and very good people"
