Luciadag @ CLS

"To bring light in a time of darkness"…. Luciadag (Saint Lucy’s Day), the traditional church feast, will be celebrated on December 13 at Club La Santa!

Saint Lucia is known as a creature of goodness and light, a shining angel illuminating the way to the Christmas season. The Day of Lucia is one of the few saint days of the Scandinavian countries. Observed on December 13, it is annually celebrated in most churches in conjunction with Christmas and a lot of kindergartens and schools even have their own procession. CLS, too!

Dressed in white robes, Lucia and her maids will bring light in a time of darkness as, according to the Julian calendar, the night of Lucia was the longest night of the year. During the ceremony, Lucia wears a crown of candles and walks ahead of a procession of her maids who hold a candle each. These candles should symbolize the fire that refused to take Saint Lucia’s life when she was sentenced to be burned. While they are entering the room, they sing traditional songs. Each Scandinavian Country has lyrics in their native tongues.

Here at Club La Santa, we want to celebrate Luciadag as well! Therefore, everybody is warmly welcome to join in this traditional event on Saturday, December 13, at 6.10pm at the square. So don’t hesitate, register yourself at Sports Booking and join in this ceremony! Please wear white clothes for the procession. There will be a rehearsal on Friday, December 12, at 7.15pm at the square.
