Winner of European Travel Price 2010

This years prize winner of the European Travel Price, is rewarded for, among other things, their intention to motivate the Danes to a healthier lifestyle - even on their vacations.

Association of Danish Travel Journalists awards European Travel Award to a person or firm who has made an outstanding achievement for the benefit of consumers in the years that have elapsed. It happens for the 28th time at 2010 holiday branch fair, held in Bella Center, Copenhagen - and this is the 34th time in total, that the prize has been awarded.

This years Winner of the 2010 European Tour Price is: Club La Santa.

President of the Danish Travel Journalists, Anne-Vibeke Isaksen, whose members are responsible for selecting, said among other things, in her motivation:
- This year’s recipient is one of the Danish travel industry’s big promoters, who were at least 10-15 years ahead of its time when Club La Santa went into the lake. It happened at a time when the travel industry still suffered from the aftermath of the first oil crisis and a subsequent “kartoffelkur” which was certainly not conducive to the Danish travel industry.

- The whole idea behind the project was to give the family, the opportunity to enjoy an active vacation with emphasis on sports and exercise. And here it has proved quite substantially, that it is an all-inclusive deal. Not on the ice with a sprinkle or fries, but a genuine offer to all activities at the resort and its facilities. Also all instruction and training at professional level are included, when the trip is booked and paid for.

In recent years another attractive facet have been attached to this unique offering holiday. Where else can you meet Team Denmark elite athletes, a Tour de France winner and world champion in swimming, who only by their presence should be an inspiration for all who cultivate sport at amateur level. Meanwhile, Club La Santa is also the place, where several generations of the same family can meet and have a nice time. The youngest, great grandchildren, will meet in Playtime, the younger ones surfing, splashing in the pool, play tennis or take a ride on mountain bike, and the older ones may take part in one of its latest offering, a smoking cessation course, while the oldest enjoys a siesta in peace and tranquillity, before all generations meet in the evening at one of Club La Santas restaurants.

- Yes, Eilif Krogager was right, when he took over, this holiday project from a Spanish bank. Today, more than 25 years after the start of the project, the ownership and operation is in the hands of a daughter and two grandchildren.
