Richard Hobson Long Distance Training Camp

9th - 19th March 2017, with Richard Hobson
This camp is aimed at those athletes who have a goal to do a long distance/ IRONMAN race in the fairly distant future. There really is no minimum standard required but we do ask that athletes are realistic regarding their abilities as the training will be hard and the volume high.

Training

The 2017 camp will follow a similar format to previous years and will be 10 days long, meaning that athletes can take one extra day of work but benefit from three additional training days. It is ideal for to use as a key block of training going into early IRONMAN races or as a Volume block of training for later IRONMAN races. We run a very relaxed and informal camp, with little emphasis placed on technique and no time in the lecture room. However every session will be planned out and explained well in advance so that everyone goes into it with clear goals and expectations. There will also be plenty of time for informal chat over coffee!

Pre-registration is required as places are limited. The price is 220 pounds including all activities in the programme. Once your registration form has been received you will be contacted directly regarding payment for the camp. Additionally you will have to book and pay for your travel arrangements (accommodation, flight, airport transfers, etc.) via Club La Santa's UK Sales Office

You can also arrange to rent a Cannondale bike via the sales office, for the price of 98€ per week or 25€ per day (min. 3 consecutive days). The camp is restricted to guests staying at Club La Santa during the event.

Aims of the Camp

  • High volume week of training
  • An extra emphasis on the cycling (as this is the hardest one to train for in the UK winter)
  • To include key race specific IRONMAN conditioning sessions
  • To work on the Mental toughness required for IRONMAN
  • To consider good recovery
  • To work on race nutrition and hydration

"In 2010 I used this camp as a key period in my preparation for the 2010 IRONMAN Lanzarote, it really was the perfect timing and I know helped me tremendously to prepare for the race and to go on to qualify for Hawaii."
