Javier Arroyo has been a specialist in intensive care medicine for over 20 years. He first became interested in areas such as respiratory support and traumatic brain injury and later focused on emergency medicine. He began working as a doctor for IRONMAN Lanzarote in 2007 and has been treating guests at the La Santa Medical Centre since 2012 – then called the AZ Sport Clinic - where he worked alongside our medical expert and friend, the late Antonio Zoido. He is now applying his knowledge in clinical physiology to the field of ergospirometry.
Verónica Sansano is a family medicine specialist with a particular interest in cardiopulmonary resuscitation. She has been working in A&E for more than 15 years. Her experience in 14 editions of IRONMAN Lanzarote has cultivated a special interest in sports medicine. She currently works in emergency medicine in Lanzarote’s largest hospital, where she is also responsible for outpatient emergency services. She has also undergone specific training in ergospirometry with the Sociedad Española de Medicina Deportiva (Spanish Society of Sports Medicine).
